Our cooperative education courses can be used towards fulfilling a compulsory credit and to offer students experience in the outdoor education industry. Our cooperative education courses link to a students’ previously attained physical education or leadership course(s)*. It is an opportunity to learn alongside our talented educators. Through a relationship with a mentor, students enjoy a truly experiential taste of the outdoor education and leadership vocation. In partnership with our teachers, students have an opportunity to exercise choice in specific areas of interest such as leadership, risk management, teaching, group process and facilitation, and program design.
Cooperative Education students will participate in canoeing, ropes courses, adventure racing, outdoor living skills, environmental projects and a 5 to 10 day whitewater expedition. Throughout these activities, they will have unique roles in helping to design, deliver and support specific outdoor programs. These courses are valuable for returning students who are interested in pursuing post-secondary studies in outdoor education, teaching, adventure tourism and guiding, social work, health care, environmental studies and physical education.
